It was almost destiny that Federer would win the French after Sodering had knocked out Nadal.
I've read Richard Evans report and if he thinks Federer was best he has seen in 50 years of reporting all I can say it is typical of journalists who have the memory of a gold fish.
Fair play to Federer, but he is not the complete player, who is ? Look around the players of this era. How many would you put your life on them. Nadal, yes, Murray no, Federer crying and bitching , remember Wimbledon final 2007 when he wanted hawk eye switched off. 'It's killing me' were his words
The seventies had Connors, Borg, McEnroe and Lendl, true fighters. Mac and Connors would have got in Federer's head and destroyed him.
Mr Evans, Federer cannot volley and hits this heavy topspin short. Edberg would have cut him up.
He is not smooth like Sampras or Mac striking the ball. Having said that, for all of his talent why did he not change his tactics against Nadal. He is 2-6 in slams and may never get the chance to play him in a French slam again as I fear Nadal will not climb the heights he did last year.
